Borrowed Light is one of those paintings that came from chasing a feeling rather than a place. I kept coming back to that moment when the sky begins to soften after heavy weather, when the light isn't fully yours yet - it feels borrowed, fleeting, but enough to change everything.

As I've been working through the Soft Light series, I've found myself thinking less about painting recognisable landscapes and more about painting atmosphere.
